Halloween may still be a couple of months away, but this September is going to be extra witchy, thanks to a little film called Practical Magic 2. The highly anticipated sequel, starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, hits the big screen on September 11—and in its honor, Vogue gathered the two iconic actresses for a round of “Off the Cuff.”
In the video, Kidman and Bullock sound off on everything from their best film roles to their finest red carpet moments. But first? Some icebreakers. What does Bullock like to order for the table? “Ice cream…with long spoons.” Kidman’s dream superpower? “I would be a great healer,” she says. (And you know what’s healing? A dinner table full of ice cream!)
In round two, the questions get a bit more personal. When asked what Bullock knows now that she wishes she’d known sooner, her answer is, in effect, that no one cares as much as you think they do. “You were worried about what everyone thought, and in the end, nobody was thinking about you to begin with, so why did I spend so much time stressing and worrying?” In round three, the conversation turns to some of the stars’ best roles and movie wardrobes. “I’d like to work with Hugh Grant again,” says Bullock, who co-starred with him in 2002’s Two Weeks Notice. As for Kidman’s most stylish performance? That would be as Satine in Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge!—duh! “[I kept] the top hat,” she reveals.
For the final round, Kidman and Bullock quiz each other on some of their most memorable red carpet looks (and there are many). Among them? The glittering Marchesa dress that Bullock wore to the 2010 Oscars, where she won best actress. “I don’t remember that night at all,” she says. “Except coming home and breast-feeding in it!”
